Can traveling alone in Shanghai be fun? Do you have any tips? Is there anything I should be worried about?
I traveled alone in Shanghai. It was a blast, but is really for the adventurous. Very few people speak English outside of the 4-star hotels. The subway is a great way to get around the city. Communicating with cab drivers is difficult, even pointing in guide books, as addresses are confusing and not always accurate. Street vendors are safe and delicious, but be prepared to eat food and have no idea what you're eating. The Lupu Bridge is a nice climb and provides spectacular views of the city and river. The Propaganda Poster Art Center is tucked away in an apartment building but was very cool. www.shanghaipropagandaart.com/. The subway is easy to use and a great way to get around the city. Get a good city map and a pair of good walking shoes and have fun!
