prior to a vacation in Seattle, we plan to meet up with family that is starting out in Oakland CA.. we will be driving from an airport to meet them and afterwards, driving to Seattle. We are 4 adults and a 7 year old. We like touring, seeing nature, but not long hikes, good food and a pleasant place to stay and jump off into actvities.
the location needs to be about 1/2 way between Seattle and oakland.
we are planning meeting up on 8/14 and staying til 8/18.
thanks
You might want to check into Medfordor Ashland. I stayed with some friends in Medford for a few days, did some mountain biking, and river tubing/floating. Ashland (Oregon) is known for its Shakespear Festival. Nearby(ish) to these locations is Crater Lake National Park , not to be missed. Driving from Oakland I would suggest hitting Burney-MacArthur Falls, a really beautiful waterfall, where half the water flows out of the hillside. From Seattle, I remember loving the motorbike ride along the Hood River, and seeing plenty of mountains.

I'd recommend Crater Lake National Park, Oregon. It's about equidistant from Oakland and Seattle, and the scenery is breathtaking. There is boating, fishing, hiking and horseback riding, even scuba diving. The Crater Lake Lodge is a good National Park Service hotel, but it's probably booked full in August. The Prospect Historic Hotel Bed & Breakfast - Motel and Dinner House is another good hotel choice, but it might also be difficult to get rooms in August.

I do not quite understand your question. Are you asking about a location between Oakland and Seattle to do touring from? Grant's Pass is about halfway between Oakland and Seattle but there are other places that I would want to visit on this route in both California and Oregon
