Alex from Santa Cruz asked

Cool stuff to do in Seattle

I'm really down for anything.  I've been to Seattle before, but I want to make sure I have all of my bases covered, so no matter how touristy, what must I see?

Here are a few things you could do:

  • Neumos: One of Seattle's best rock clubs.  Go to a rock show here
  • Moe Bar: then come next door here for drinks.  Edgy, loud, hipster joint, young people. Stand up at the bar for stiff drinks before you go see a rock show. Loud, attached to Neumos.
  • Space Needle: love this icon. 8th most photographed thing in the world - just turned 50!  It's touristy - but its actually really cool. I just took my nephew after not having been there for a decade or more. Sorta spendy, but worth it!  The restaurant up top has done a full 180 and is actually quite good.
  • Smith Tower: observation deck is a unique view
  • Bainbridge Island Ferry: a must do in seattle (only if it's sunny)
  • Seattle Art Museum: The newly refurb-ed art museum is great.  Getting better every year.... the remodel is substantial. Check out the sculpture park on elliott bay too - also part of SAM.  Go SAM!
  • Ride the Ducks of Seattle: hilarious and fun. we rented one for a birthday one year and partied like it was 1999
  • Experience Music Project: music museum.  Cool spot even if touristy... will be fun for the adults and kids alike.
  • Seattle Public Library - Central Library: great architecture - rem koolhaas. make sure to go INSIDE. stunning
  • Fremont Troll: classic weird seattle in the Fremont Neighborhood

Awesome, man, thank you! Been to a couple of these, but Neumo's and Moe Bar sound good, and the Bainbridge Island Ferry sounds fun, too.

I second Bainbridge Island Ferry, but get off at the other side and eat at Hitchcock's.

I've somehow never heard of this amazing sounding place, but I can certainly get behind oysters and other good food. Thanks!
