Where to go with a 1.5 year old while in Scotland?

Any suggestions for places to visit (animals, parks, playgrounds, museums, etc) with my 1.5 year old son while in Scotland? We'll be in the area around Edinburgh and Fort William.

The Edinburgh Zoo is amazing!  Make a reservation for a time to visit the pandas, suggest early as the monkeys tend to be very active in the morning!  They also have a newly redone penguin exhibit!

There are a fair few places in Edinburgh that are good for kids - definitely take a trip to Edinburgh Zoo for the penguins and the giant pandas. Our Dynamic Earth is also well worth a trip when in Edinburgh for dinosaurs, volcanoes and the like. A bit further North in Fife (not a long drive) visit the The Scottish Deer Centre a bit like a farm park with cool owls and other birds of prey to see.

When in Fort William, take a trip on the The Jacobite Steam Train - it's the one they used on Harry Potter.

I love the hike up to Arthur's Seat (you'll have to carry the little one) and the view is worth the hard work! Just walking around Edinburgh Old Town or The Royal Mile will be fun, and be sure to visit Edinburgh Castle and Calton Hill. There are many parks around the city center - Holyrood Park, Royal Terrace Gardens, Regent Gardens, Princes Street Gardens, and Dean Gardens. The Kilderkin pub has fantastic pizza, if you're lucky you'll catch the ukulele group playing live.
