Best Things To Do In Santa Cruz?

We've been to the boardwalk, beach, the wharf/pier and mystery spot. What are some other things and places to eat (not too expensive)  and hotels/motels (affordable, just a place to crash for the night) to do in Santa Cruz. Something the kids can enjoy in addition to the adults. We are going to be there for 2 days.

I think you might enjoy Roaring Camp Railroads, which is an old style narrow guage rail that used to deliver timber from the Santa Cruz mountains to San Francisco during the early building boom.  You can ride up into the mountains or down to the Santa Cruz Beach boardwalk. It starts in Felton.

At this time of year U-pick berries are in season at Gizdich Ranch.  The berries are amazing.

A little further south, Elkhorn Slough offers pontoon boat rides into the protected area.  10% of sea otters live there, and you will view seals, sea lions, egrets and blue herons.  It is a beautiful, peaceful expedition.  After that have lunch at Phil's Fish Market & Eatery. Phil won the Cioppino throw down against Bobby Flay.  All the food here is the freshest possible.

Over the hill is Los Gatos, a very picturesque small town with lots of good restaurants and shops.

Or Burrell School Vineyards, one of the many wineries in the Santa Cruz Mountains.   The wineries here are rustic and friendly, and the wine is delicious.

Have fun!
