Veronica from San Francisco asked

Favorite restaurants in Santa Barbara?

Heading to Santa Barbara for my birthday with my husband! Can anyone recommend some good restaurants, of any price? We'll be there for a few nights, so a variety of spots would be awesome!

Steak = Lucky's

Fusion = Opal Restaurant & Bar

Cajun = The Palace Grill

Mexican = Los Agaves Restaurant (The Los Agaves burrito is amazeballs)

 Also, if you want to go real fancy, there's Bouchon. Romantic, high quality service and great French food. Highly recommend.

They've got the best food! Definitely The Lark - Santa Barbara for something different and heart. Lucky's for a sophisticated steak and old hollywood charm, and of course the famous La Super-Rica Taqueria for authentic Mexican food!

Le Cafe Stella- Away from downtown, good food, relaxing French Country vibe

Boathouse at Hendry's Beach - Local favorite, right on the beach. Make reservations

La Super-Rica Taqueria - Mexican favorite. Lines can get long

Norton's Pastrami and Deli - Best Philly Cheesesteak west of the Schuylkill River (grew up outside Philly) -- also featured on Diners Drive-In's & Dives

JulienneBrophy Brothers (seafood), Opal Restaurant & Bar (I’ve probably eaten here most), Sly's for excellent steaks (in Carpenteria), The Palace Grill (cajun/creole) also excellent, Arigato Sushi. There are others that skip my mind. Important consideration is the ambience of the restaurant. Some are noisy and lively some less so. If you want romantic for example check the Yelp website for restaurants to get an idea, but take some of the reviews with a grain of salt. There are also some places to avoid. Most you will need to make reservations especially on weekends. Hope this helps. - Mark

Our favorite little restaurant in Santa Barbara is La Super-Rica Taqueria on Milpas. It's a Mexican grill, order at the window and wait until they call your number. The plates are small so be sure to order several each. Check their opening days I think they are closed on Tuesdays. Yum I'm getting hungry just thinking about their Rajas.

My wife and I really like both restaurants on the pier. Good food and moderate prices and great view, of the ocean and beach.

I agree with Bill about The Palace Grill.  The Cajun or Dean Martinis, the Oysters Rockefeller (with Cajun Hollandaise), and the Blackened Filet are memorable, but everything I have had there has been authentic and delicious.
