If you choose to leave your home country to live in San Francisco, what were you main motivations?
How is the quality of life in San Francisco?
I lived in Berkeley for 3 years with my husband. I moved from Italy for love. San Francisco is a beautiful city but what people don't know is that there are also ugly and dirty areas. If you want to move to the city stay away from the Tenderloin and Market Street. The best places in my opinion are North Beach Noe Valley and The Castro. We chose to live in Berkeley, it's half an hour of bart (the public transportation system) from the city. It's pretty and safe. I love the culture of the Bay especially the food. Being Italian for me it's very important and here you can always get fresh produce. People are very environmentalists and they care about the good quality of food. I love the Bay and all it has to offer, also consider that the technology and innovation starts from here. It's a place full of stimulus and great minds. The only downside is the cost of living, it is quite high almost everywhere in the Bay.

I moved from France to San Francisco and I lived there for 2 years and my main motivations were to discover a new culture, make new friends, be by my self and last but not least be fluent in english! Looking back I can tell that it was one of my best decision!
Laid back california lifestyle is awesome, people are less stressed than in NYC and have an healthy way of life. In other words, you can leave your job at 4pm to go to Crissy Field and windsurf or run on the beach!
Also, californians are really friendly and welcoming, they'll do their best to help you for anything!
Anyway, I'd highly recommend you to try San Francisco, you'll not be disappointed!
