How far is ferry building from the cruise terminal?

The Ferry Building is pretty much right at the cruise terminal. It will be a five minute walk, maximum.

Ocean liners dock at Pier 35.  As others said, about a mile.  

Its about a mile on broad sidewalks, 10 to 15 minutes. When you walk out of the cruise port building take a moment (and a picture) of the best view of the City!

It would depend on the cruise terminal number! The Embarcadero is a long stretch of terminals all along the water. I believe cruise ships stop at 27 Pier and Pier 35 . To Pier 27 ( James. R. Herman Cruise Terminal), it's a 0.8 mile walk, or 18 minute walk. To Pier 35, it's a 1.1 mile walk or 24 minutes. If that's too long, there's the Market Street Railway which runs along the Embarcadero and costs about $2. However, if you have large luggage, I would recommend an Uber.
