Courtney from Los Angeles asked

Does anyone know of a moderately priced, clean, safe hotel?

Going up to San Francisco to see Jeff Tweedy play the Fillmore in December. I'd love some hotel suggestions--not into a splurge for this but I'd like some mid-range choices. Thanks!

I stayed at the  Executive Hotel Vintage Court near Union Square. They had an evening wine reception every day, the staff were friendly, the rooms were alright and the prices were good. I'd stay there again.

It's the birthplace of AirBNB. Many sub $100. Give it a go. If that's not your cup of tea, the hotels around SoMa are always on Priceline or Hotwire. I've never paid more than $120.

Great idea about AirBNB but I think this time we're going for a hotel, rather than a rental. Thanks, Bo!

A bit scary to let it go until the last moment, but, www.hoteltonight.com is great. Just used it in Ft. Lauderdale, and nobody even came close. Take a peek.

I'm going to try The Metro Hotel in Lower Haight. Cool boutique, neighborhoodie and close to a main busline

Agree with the AirBnB suggestion. I think it's your best bet. If you do need a hotel, I stayed at the Pickwick Hotel and it was centric and inexpensive.
