What kind of inexpensive free sights can you recommend for someone who loves hiking, wildlife, video game culture, Japanese culture, and bookstores?
I'll be using Lyft and public transit and staying inside the city for the most part.
There are 3 Diego Rivera murals you can see for free. Look it up online for locations. One at the school of art, one at San Francisco City College, one in the old stock exchange building, if my memory serves me.
Randall Museum is a free science museum in Corona Heights Park. Down from Twin Peaks. Beautiful views and off the beaten track. Take the walk along Lincoln Boulevard to Baker Beach. visit Lands End and the Sutro Baths. The Presidio has many free activities including ranger talks, kite flying, mini tents in Thursday nights. The Mission District has interesting murals and affordable food. Yerba Buena Gardens offers free concerts and dance programs.

When the SF Giants are playing you can watch 3 free innings of baseball from Levi's Landing, which is by McCovey Cove along the public portwalk.
Definitely avoid Pier 39 and Fisherman’s Wharf; so crowded. North beach and Union sq the same.
