Best neighbourhood for a 4 day stay using Airbnb under $200/night

My fiancé and I are spending a part of our honeymoon in San Francisco. We're hoping to use Airbnb to find a nice place (either apartment or private room) under $200/night. What are the best neighbourhoods in San Francisco to stay in for convenient transportation, attractions and interesting sites?

16th and ValenciaThe mission is your best bet. Everything west of valencia st and north of cesar chavez st will be close to public transit and nightlife but far enough that you can get a good night's sleep. East of valencia / south of cesar chavez is too dangerous/noisy IMO.

Transportation is great through out the city.  You can get pretty much anywhere in less than an hour. The buses are easy to take, or you can download the app Lyft for an alternative to a cab.  If you like natural beauty like Lands End stay in the Richmond District.  If you like tourist sites like Pier 39 and Ghiradelli Square stay in the Marina District.  If you like funky (and a tad grimy) stay in Haight-Ashbury.

  3. Pier 39 (attraction)
  4. Ghiradelli Square (attraction)

  6. Haight-Ashbury (attraction)

I've stayed at some great Airbnb places in the Lower Haight and NoPa areas. They are close to great parks (walkable to the museums in Golden Gate Park), central to the rest of the city and the Divisadero corridor is home to some of the hottest restaurants, bars and shopping the city has to offer - some of my faves being Nopa, The MillBar CrudoNopalito and The Perish Trust. Hope you find a great place, and enjoy your honeymoon!

  1. Lower Haight (attraction)
  2. NoPa (neighborhood)
  3. Golden Gate Park (attraction)
  4. Nopa (restaurant)
  5. Bar Crudo (restaurant)
  6. Nopalito (restaurant)
  7. The Mill (restaurant)

If you cant find somewhere on Airbnb, is a great vacation rental site that aggregates listings from HomeAway, VRBO, FlipKey, Roomorama and a bunch of others.
