Debbie from San Francisco asked

Best hot springs within a 2-3 hour drive of San Francisco?

My birthday's coming up and I really want to take a little weekend staycation to a hot spring to celebrate!  Anyone know of any good ones that are within a 2-3 hour drive of San Francisco?  A good hotel, B&B, or Airbnb close to the hot spring would be great, too.  Was thinking I'd head there on a Friday or Saturday and spend one night.

I was looking at Esalen in Big Sur, so I'd love to hear more about that if anyone has ever been, and would love to hear about other awesome ones as well.  Thank you!

The most commercial is Calistoga in Napa Valley, where the hot springs are turned into mud baths and massages.  I used to go to Esalen all the time and you cant beat the view and location.

Here are some choices that range from very nice to much more laid back.

Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn Hot Springs and Spa
100 Boyes Boulevard
Sonoma, CA 95476

Wilbur Hot Springs resort
3375 Wilbur Springs Rd.
Wilbur Springs, California 95987

Vichy Springs Resort
2605 Vichy Springs Rd
Ukiah, CA 95482

Orr Hot Springs Resort
13201 Orr Springs Rd,
Ukiah, CA 95482

I haven't personally been, but my mother swears by Calistoga.  They have hot springs and she likes to go with her husband for the couples package of mud bath, mineral bath, and massage.  I'm not sure where she goes,  might be Golden Haven Hot Springs Spa and Resort or Calistoga Spa Hot Springs.
