Ramon from Seattle asked

Good surf spots for experienced surfers?

Some buddies and I are staying with my cousin and uncle in San Diego for spring break—can anyone recommend some good surf spots? Also, I keep hearing that in southern Cal you can surf in the morning and be on the slopes by the afternoon—is that true and if we come in March will we be too late for that? Thanks for your time!

Nice!  I don't know anything about hitting the slopes, but I can recommend some surf spots.

Just FYI: there are no real secret surf spots in San Diego.  There are spots all up and down the coast and anytime there are good waves, people will congregate there.  One that I can tell you to skip is  La Jolla Shores, which is more of a beginners spot.

have fun man!

My surf friends LOVE Encinitas!  Check it out.

Totally possible to surf in the morning and hit the slopes in the evening at Big Bear Lake!

Black's Beach is missing. One of the best waves in US!

Yes Ramon it is true. You can do both in the same day. This winter has been pretty dry but if we get spring showers like we usually do, the mountains will have snow.

Surf at Encinitas at Swami's Beach. All the pros go there.  It's not too late to ski at Big Bear Mountain. Just a two and half hour drive from Encinitas.

Ocean Beach is a pretty good spot for moderate to advanced surfers.
