We have literally only moved to LA a few weeks ago and like nothing better than exploring new places near by. We have a free weekend and plan to drive down to SD in the morning and spend the day.
I must admit, we know next to nothing about whats hot to do in San Diego.
I'm open to all options but it would be great to hear what some of your favorite things to do there are if you only had the day
We of course plan to eat and we love doing that so suggestions would be great, Price not an issue if its really worth it :)
We love the LA vibe and especially enjoy the likes of Venice Beach and Santa Monica. We're not necessarily looking for a beach day but is San Diego set up in a similar way where there is a vibrant area around the beach?
Looking forward to the visit though because anyone who talks about SD seems to love it :)
All the best

If you aren't looking for a day at the beach, but want a nice place to walk with view of the water with good shops and restaurants, I would take a look at the La Jolla Village area. On a nice day, my favorite restaurants for lunch are George's Ocean Terrace and their second level bar;the terrace off the lobby at the La Valencia Hotel, and Eddie V's - La Jolla. All have great views and excellent food. As you enter the village area on Prospect Street, turn left on Cave St, and you will find several inexpensive parking lots on weekends, and you can walk from there to everything. The area down along the water from La Jolla Cove and along Coast Blvd and through Cuvier Parkis a great place for a walk.
