Best burritos in San Diego?

Traveling to SD and will be on a mission to find the best classic San Diego burrito in town. Where do I have to go? I will have a car to get around. Thanks!

Roberto's Taco Shop is definitely one of my favorites for a California burrito, they have multiple locations around San Diego. Nico's Mexican food is also really good in Ocean Beach Nico's Mexican Food. Bull Taco Cardiff is also really great as you can order the bomb burritos as a la carte tacos so you can try different things!

Don't be afraid to walk into the grungy looking taco shops as they are usually the best! All the Mexican food is honestly great!

Have a great time!

There are so many great little taco shops it's hard to narrow down a favorite. I would say it depends on where you want to be. Beach? Downtown? Uptown? Here's a few to lead you in the right direction. Love to hear where you end up!

My top 3 spots would be Lucha Libre Taco Shop (you can wear a luchador mask while you wait. Seriously.) El Zarape Restaurant (two locations in University Heights) and Santanas Grill Inc (A few spots in town, my fave is the Point Loma one).

A few other winners are Taco Surf PB (bonus that it's steps from the crashing waves), Roberto's Mexican Food (this one is near Torrey Pines, another amazing beach spot, but there are multiple locations around SD.) and if you feel fancy head into La Jolla for Don Carlos Taco Shop. Enjoy!

JV's Mexican Food in Mission City has the world famous Surf and Turf burrito - to this day the largest, most glorious burrito I have ever laid eyes on.

The best place to go in San Diego for authentic Mexican food is Las Cuatro Milpas.  Don't be scared off by the long line.  It moves fast and there is plenty of seating inside. My favorites are the chorizo con huevos and the tacos, but they also have burritos.  Tortillas are freshly made onsite.  They're open 8:30-3:00 Monday through Saturday, closed Sunday.

Most are Americanized. Not authentic Mexican tasting. They are good, but Americanized. If you want authentic Mexican tacos/mulitas (quesadilla with your choice of asada or different meat) go to a mom n pop shop called Tacos El Gordo on H street. The tacos there are not expensive, and there is always a wait (about 15-20 min line) to order. If you're looking for a good breakfast spot with breakfast burritos try Snooze, an A.M. Eatery! Delicious!
