Must do attractions and cities to visit around Salzburg and Hallstatt

I will be visiting Salzburg in September and we will be going around with a rented car, so we have travelling capabilities. Apart from visiting Salzburg and Hallstatt (Plus vienna for the last 3 days) I would appreciate if you have any ideas of things to do in Salzburg and Hallstatt, and any other cities we MUST visit around those 2 cities. Restaurant recommendations are also very welcome :)

Salzburg is the birth place of Mozart so, if you like classical music, you can visit his   Mozart's Birthplace in the old district. It's lovely to walk around there. You can walk through the square and up the hill to Festung Hohensalzburg. Salzburg was a major salt mine town (hence its name) and you can go through some of the mines (in mini coasters or hiking) all around the surrounding area.
If you like hiking, there's a hill across the river from the old district, Kapuzinerberg. It has some hidden gems (for instance, a restaurant at the end of Kapuzinerberg road and random statues and Mozart busts), but the absolute best is a stunning view of the Festung surrounded by the mountains. You won't get a view of it anywhere else in the city. At the bottom of the hill is Linzergasse which has some wonderful little restaurants, shops, and is just a lovely walk. If you walk along the steingassen allstars it's filled with beautiful old buildings (just be warned that at night, this street is the red light district). In the area, I like to eat at Kastner's Schenke.
It's also where the Sound of Music was filmed. If you're a huge fan, there are various tours around the city. You can also just google your favorite sites and visit those for free, though.
