Riviera Maya

Any site-seeing suggestions in the Rivera Maya for two couples?

Spending 5 days at El Dorado Royale with another couple, the first time for both of us to go to an all inclusive.  Any suggestions of what sites to see away from the resort during the day?  We will be traveling in March.

Oh your going to love the Riviera Mayan ... Well you can't miss the archeological site  Tulum not far from your hotel ..we love to have a car but you certainly can take the local bus..with a car you can see a number of places in one day ..the small village of  Akumal is fun for an afternoon of swimming ..the beach is so nice there and turtles have been there the times we have been .. So bring your snorkel ..spending a few hours in the town of  Playa del Carmen is fun! great shopping and restaurants ..taking the ferry over to  Cozumel is a nice day trip or seeing the pyramids Chichen Itza  but that is a long day but very interesting ..or how about just relaxing at your beautiful hotel and being all inclusive you really hate to leave and go for food anywhere else when it's included ..I know you want to see so much of the area but you miss out on what your hotel has to offer .. But since it's your first time it's nice to go out and explore ..that's why having a car for a day or two is nice and you can get lots of activities and site seeing done fast and then try to relax and enjoy your hotels beach and food and activities..there is really a lot to see but since you are only there for 5 days I only mentioned a few... Have fun !!!

Definitely go to Tulum, the ruins are great. After that I would suggest going to Xcaret, it is very nice. Although it is very nice staying at the resort I would recommend dinning out in Playa del Carmen, the town is very nice and walkable.

Hey guys! I've stayed in El Dorado Casitas Royale Resort and is really amazing, calmed comfortable. You are in for a treat.

I would recomend to go to see Ruinas mayas de Tulum. Are the most beautiful ruins in Mexico, they are not that far (like half an hour to 45 mins from El dorado) and they are located in a very safe area.

If you have more time, go to Chichen Itza, its half way between Cancun and Merida, like 2.5 to 3 hours from your hotel and the highway is just a big long straigh line so is hard to miss it.

Spend some time in Playa del Carmen, beautiful beaches and pretty nice restaurants.

Have a good time!

If you want to see Mayan Ruins Tulum is very close, and you can always do Chichen Itza which a further drive. Valladolid is city close by and you'll find places with great local food and good sight seeing. Also, Xcaret and Xel Ha is a good options as well, they are Archeological parks which combine Mayan Ruins with turist attractions like swimming with dolphins, a zoo, underground rivers that you can swim, etc.
