Alexandra from Liverpool asked

Riga + day trips near Riga?

We are going to visit Riga in the middle of June. Do you know any places/sights in the city worth visiting? Any tips or suggestions are welcome.

I also wonder if are there any places visiting for a day trip near the city. We are interested in natural attractions and culinary tips.

Thank you in advance.

For one day trip i recommend Sigulda- small town with few castles and hiking routes, there is all kinds of public transport from Riga to Sigulda or guided tours. Bit more out of the Riga is town of Kuldīgas ielathat is real gemstone of Latvia, but could be more complicated to get there. If you are "all about nature" go to Latvian Ethnographic Open Air Museum- forest within city limits with countryside buildings from 17th to 19th centuries! Really nice place! We go there with our family at least once or twice a year just for a nice walk.

Please visit Old Town Riga, all the streets there are worth visiting, and there are a lot of sightseeings to see, such as Riga CathedralHouse of Blackheads, etc. Also please visit Alberta street in Riga, not far from old town. Also down Alberta street you can find Restorāns Riviera, you can have excellent lunch there. Outside Riga, (40km) visit Sigulda, beautiful country town, with a lot of things to visit, Riga Castle, Gauja National Park. To have a dinner visit restaurant "Aparjods"
