My husband and I would like a "snowbird" experience for the month of January in Puerto Rico. We don't speak much Spanish and need some tips on what area to research rentals. Ideally we would love to be within walking distance to beaches and restaurants (we love to walk on the beach). i suppose we would rent a car for at least half our time there so we could explore other areas etc. we basically want a laid back quiet experience and hope to find a VRBO or air b& b for $100 or less a night. Doable? Thanks! Valerie
Found a guesthouse in Arecibo . Off the chart clean and perfect. Excellent restaurant next door. Airbnb.
English and Spanish are the official languages in Puerto Rico. If you stay around tourist areas, you should be able to get by without speaking Spanish. I took a short trip to Puerto Rico and stayed in hotels, not apartments, so I can't comment first hand on that.
Through my research I found the following interesting apartments. Take a look, and please do your own research before booking:
Old San Juan – close to all attractions and restaurants. There's an Airbnb apartment 15 minute from Old San Juan by foot. Escambron Beach is just down the road from it, and it costs less than $100 per night: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/4819306
For a studio apartment by the beach, check out https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/5554308
You have plenty of options. These are just four I found on Airbnb and there are hundreds more to choose from.
Hope this info helps.
