Ronkonkoma, New York
Hi all! We're headed to Portugal this June for the entire month. It will be myself, husband and two kids, ages 2.5 and 5. We'd like to hit the beach, see a few castles and monasteries, consume delicious seafood and wine and partake in local culture, which could be museums, festivals or hitting a playground. Looking in to staying 3 or maybe 4 places, for a week or so at a time, doing both day trips and enjoying where we are settled. The question is where and in what order? Thinking in Lisbon first for a few days, then renting a car and heading out...Any thoughts or suggestions? We live in NYC so the kids are pretty good about walking a lot.
Thank you greatly!
Lisbon is always a good option. Don't forget to visit Sintra while in Lisbon. Wonderful palaces to see there! After that I would recommend you to go down south to Algarve. On the way you can stop in Setúbal, Portinho da Arrábida (check the dolphins tour at the bay) , visit Évora and the Castelo de Monsaraz, Arena (plenty of historical sites to see) and continue all the way south to Lagos, Albufeira and Vilamoura to spend some relaxing days by the sea, visit the sea caves and enjoying the great seafood. Hope you have a great time!
