Best free things to do in Portland?

I'm going to be in Portland next month and will be on a pretty tight budget. I'm looking for the best free and inexpensive things to check out! I love the outdoors, art, museums, you name it. Thanks!

International Rose Test Garden is a great free activity, especially right now when flowers are starting to bloom. If you are around on the weekend, free activities includes going to the Portland Saturday Market or the Downtown Farmers Market near Portland State University.

If you have access to a car, Multnomah Falls is only 30 minutes outside of Portland, if you are up to the challenge, cross the river to Washington and hike Dog Mountain it is absolutely beautiful right now with wild flowers.

Forest Park runs along Portland, it's a public municipal park.  There's a famous  Wildwood Trail that runs for 40 miles.  The whole park is free and filled with beautiful forest.

Farmer's markets! Great place for people watching. Let's not forget wandering around Powell's City of Books.

Seriously, all you need to do to have fun in Portland is walk. You will stumble upon the fun.

Hiking near the Oregon Zoo is beautiful! You can also visit the International Rose Test Garden with a beautiful view of downtown Portland and Mt Hood.  The Wildwood Trail is an easy trail that takes about an hour.  It is in Forest Park. You can park at the Oregon Zoo.
