Plymouth (Massachusetts)

What's the best neighborhood in Plymouth (Massachusetts) for a first time visitor?

I've never been to Plymouth (Massachusetts) and I'm a little overwhelmed by all the hotel options. I'd like to stay in a hotel that is central and gives me good sense of what Plymouth (Massachusetts) is like. I'd love to know where locals tell their friends to stay when they visit, and why those areas and hotels are special. thanks!

Hotel 1620 Plymouth Harbor would be my first choice, as someone from downtown Plymouth. It was recently refurbished, so everything is new and looks very modern. It's on Water Street right by Town Wharf and the Village Landing Marketplace, which has a lot of restaurant, shopping, and nightlife options a short walk away (like Peaceful Meadows Farm ice cream, Blue-Eyed Crab Grille and Raw Bar restaurant and raw bar, and Wood's Seafood on Plymouth Bay, to name a few local favourites). John Carver Inn & Spa has always been popular in Plymouth, but the rooms look very dated.

Check out the John Carver Inn & Spa. It's close to downtown but still away from it. Just a short walk. The Bradford Inn & Suites isn't nice, according to my friends from Plymouth. The John Carver Inn also has a pool.
