Phoenix, Grand Canyon National Park

Any "must do" suggestions for Phoenix and the Grand Canyon?

My girlfriend and I are headed to Phoenix next month and plan on taking a side trip to the Grand Canyon.

Does anyone have any "must do" suggestions for the trip?

On your way to the Grand Canyon National Park spend sometime in Sedona, it is the most beautiful place you may ever see.  Take the road up the canyon to Flagstaff a great ride with amazing scenery.  On your way up stop at the Rock Springs Cafe, good food but don't miss the pie.  Often voted best in AZ.

In Phoenix you should check out Angels Trumpet Ale House if you like beer. For food we have a lot of great options from Fast Food Vegan at Green Restaurant to Pizza at Federal Pizza or tacos at Gallo Blanco Cafe. Good hiking in Phoenix is at Dreamy Draw Recreation Area and Camelback Mountain, though Camelback gets very crowded.

On your way to the Canyon staying a night in Flagstaff is always a good call. We like eating at Macy's Fresh Roasted Coffee or Mountain Oasis.

At the Canyon there isn't a lot of food options beyond McDonald's and some cafes so you might want to stock up in Flagstaff and bring some snacks.

I hope this helps.

Heading to Phoenix in July?  Wow, it's very hot, but mucho affordable at the resorts.  The Westin Kierland Resort and Spa is nice.  Scottsdale Fashion Square is a very nice mall.  The golf courses are very cheap (TPC Scottsdale). See if the Diamondbacks are in town.  You might consider renting a houseboat on Lake Powell or staying in Sedona, which is closer to the Grand Canyon National Park and much cooler.
