Hi!
I'll be visiting Philly for the first time in a few weeks. I'm a foodie and would like to get to a couple of good restaurants. What do you recommend? I'm staying in the center city area. Dining with friends who probably would be comfortable at $$-$$$ restaurants.
Hi Saundra hope you and your friends enjoy our beautiful city. My first recommendation is always Zahav, especially when dining with a small group. Make reservations and enjoy the spectacular tasting menu and perfect service. This Israeli cuisine is unique to most cities and over the course of the meal you'll try 20+ unique items. The hummus alone will make you a believer.
Vernick Food & Drink is also a superb choice, maybe towards the top of your price range, and the appetizer toasts are incredible.
The hottest new restaurant right now is Double Knot but just be aware they are still working out the opening kinks.
Parc French bistro is consistently great and has the best people watching scene which is even better if the weather is warm.
Finally, Dim Sum Garden is one of my favorite places. Bring a six-pack or two since it's BYOB and you'll stuff your faces for less than $15 a person including tip.
Nice happy hour at Oyster House, wine/beer/cheese at any of the Tria locations, El Vez or El Rey, The Ranstead Room1 Tippling Place for cocktails.
