Hotels in Peru. Pre-order or book on the spot?

we plan to travel in Peru for 3 weeks. mainly we will be traveling south part of the country. What is the best option to order hotels/hostels. Is it better to pre-order or book on the spot. We know our approximate locations, but we don`t know how it is easy to follow the plan. We plan to travel by bus between cities

If you are flying in to Lima, pre-book-try Barranco or Miraflores-don't stay round the airport, not one of the safest areas. If you are travelling to tourist "hot spots" you are better to book in advance-for Mancora in north, and Cusco, always book. In Cusco, recommend the Hospedaje Turistico Recoleta  or if you want a hotel, Casa Andina San Blas. Make sure you pre-book for Machu Piccu-they put a daily limit on visitors -if you want to do the Inca trail trek, usually need to book well in advance-if taking the train, need to book it in advance as well. You can pre-book a tour to Lake Titicaca which includes an overnight stay in the house of a local person. Huacachina can be popular-some hostels will rent sandboards if you want to try sandboarding. Web sites Hostelworld for hostels, and we have found hotel bargains via as well.
