Patong Beach, Phuket

What are the must see places for a week in Phuket?

Hey everyone,

Heading to Phuket for a week. Any recommendations on places to go?

I'll be based on Patong Beach. Not completely committed there. Just using hotel as a base. Willing to venture out for a day or two.

Any and all suggestions are appreciated. :-)

Hey Christian!

Phuket is tons of fun, and it's great to be based in a beach city! When I went, we rented a cab tour guide for the day and she took us all around the island for a flat rate. It's a great way to see all the attractions you're interested in.

The BEST place to be at night is Bang La Road in Patong. It's where all the restaurants, nightlife, and cool street vendors are. Definitely a must visit!

Big Buddha Phuket : I believe this is the largest buddha on the island

Wat Chaithararam : beautiful temple with intricate architecture

Promthep Cape : gorgeous cliff overlooking the water - best viewed at sunset

the sea gypsy village where a bunch of "nomads" live off the sea - super fascinating. you can buy fresh, raw seafood and get it cooked nearby

Rang Hill is another famous viewpoint, this time over the town - also much better seen during sunset. popular with the locals!

Go ride an elephant! there are a bunch of options to do this - we booked via a tour company nearby.

We also went on two boat tours that took us to Maya BayKoh Phi PhiPhang NgaJames Bond IslandKoh Panyi

If I could do it again, I would stay a couple of days on either Koh Samui or Koh Phi Phi instead of doing a couple of boat tours. It will be more economical, and it's much better to spend a day or two on the island than to see them quickly in passing.

Have fun!

Karon View Point offers some beautiful sights of Phuket. Also, if you're willing to go somewhere else for a night or two, I would recommend Phi Phi Islands. Only a two hour boat from Phuket and it's amazing. Good food, great places to stay, small island town and beautiful beaches!

Try to get a daytrip to Phi Phi Islands or Phang Nga Bay. Once you're in Pa Tong ,go to a tour office and they will have lots of brochures on things to do. We did a fast boat trip to Phi Phi, Maya BayMonkey Island and Kong Island. All lovely islands but too short of time at each. Another time we went on a larger ferry and saw Phang Nga Bay.We then got on canoes and saw sea caves where monkeys lived. Lunch was included. I recommend seeing James Bond Island too. Patong beach is great, with  lots of people and water activities, restaurants,  beach food and drinks. You'll  have a ball!
