Jaclyn from Angelika Film Center & Cafe asked

Favorite Restaurants?

What are the hottest/your favorite restaurants in Paris right now?

Below is the current list we are working off of. We have 4 days. Would love any and all comments and suggestions! We are also staying in Le Marais, so if you have suggestions for good breakfast cafes, bakeries and bars as well, that would be tremendous.

I should call out that we are more of the bistro French food type of people- steaks, burgers, chicken, etc rather than fois gras, etc. Picky eating is such a curse! I know. We also are open to other cuisines (have a taqueria listed below) - because good food is good food!

Cafe Constant (for classic bistro)

Le Castiglione Café (for burgers)

Chez L'Ami Jean (trendy and acclaimed)

Le Severo (for steaks)

Frenchie (trendy and acclaimed)

Septime (trendy but limited menu)

Chez Françoise

Un Dimanche a Paris

Candelaria

Thank you!

Paris

If you're staying in the Marais you pretty much have to try L'as Du Fallafel. They pretty much always have a long take-out line, but if you eat there you can almost always get seated right away.

Le Dôme du Marais - this place isn't cheap but the food is good, it's got a fun vibe and has pretty much exactly what you describe here food-wise.

Les Fous de L'Ile - they specialize in chicken dishes but I had a steak there once that might have literally been the best steak I've ever had. Went back again it was so good.

Add in Le Bouillon Chartier for a great workers style bistro lunch!

Au Bourguignon du Marais serves pretty much exactly what you're talking about, although it's obviously the French versions of that. Lovely place although somewhat newer in feel than most classic Parisian restaurants.

Slightly west of the Marais is a place called Café Saint honoré which serves excellent hardy fare like that. It's a VERY tight squeeze here, even for Paris, so if you're even slightly claustrophobic, this place is not for you. Great food, though!

Well these places are in the Le Marais area, but if you are going to Montmartre (my current favorite area to stay and of course where Le Coeur Scared is) my faves are: Le Coq Rico, Le Grand 8, Miroir, Jeanne B(for lunch) , L'Annexeand  La Table d'Eugène.  These are all the style of bistro I think you are looking for!  Le Coq Rico is especially known for amazing "poultry" dishes (surprise, eh?).  I also love Pierre Sang in Oberkampf in the 11th (but get there early!! it's communal $$$$ but good!) .. I've had multiple meals at many of those -- and I think they are all amazing.
