Luciana from Austin (Texas) asked

What should we do in Panama City for 2 days (with kids)?

We'll spend 2 days in Panama City before we head to the San Blas Islands. Our kids are 2 and 6.

Panama City (Panama) one thing i can recommend is definetly Panama Canal but its maybe not as interesting for kids as it is for adults.

Another intersting place is Calzada Amador, On the Island you can walk around, dine and shop. Its very touristic there and also safe. Also a stroll through the old Panama City Casco Antiguo is very nice. Its also a very touristic place with great restaurants and also a nice view to the city and also to the canal.

In the city you can walk along the ocean front ( Cinta Costera), the also have some kids playgrounds there. This is pretty much the best things of the city and also very safe places. In the whole city there are a lot of restaurants, malls and other places to shop and dine.

I hope this helps you a bit...

Peter is right! These are the best places to know therefore I dont have anything else to add. Dont miss to visit "The Coastway" or Calzada Amador. You can rent bikes and I am sure the kids will enjoy the ride. At the end of the Coastway you will find different type of restaurants. Dont forget to visit Donald Trumps's hotel/ restaurant/ Trump Ocean Club International Hotel & Tower Panama. It has a nice ambience and the view is really nice especially at night. Restaurants to recommend, Athens (Greek food), Orale (mexican), Champions Sports Bar (Sports bar & grill). hope you enjoy the city!!

I was in Panama in May/June 2013 and one of my favourite kid-friendly activities was visiting the Summit Botanical Garden and Zoo. It is actually an animal rescue centre, not a zoo, but is a great place to see indigenous animals like the jaguar, ocelot, alligator, tapir, sloth, plus several types of monkeys and birds. Many of the animals are in old-fashioned cages but each cage has a mini explanation of how the animal was rescued. There's also lots of green space for kids to run around. It is possible to get there by public transportation, but not super easy if you don't speak Spanish. If you go by taxi, it is wise to arrange a time to be picked up again or to pay the driver to wait for you. It is easy to make a stop at the Miraflores Locks on the way to or from.
