Camille from San Francisco asked

Twenty somethings in Orlando: where does the young crowd like to hang out?

Me and a group of friends will be in Orlando in the spring. All we know about Orlando is that there are a few amusement parks. We're curious to know where the younger crowds hang out?

Orlando (Florida)

I know people like to hang out downtown, though I didn't make it there often myself, but i know a lot of my 20-something co-workers hung out down there.  We liked the The Gnarly Barley for a good selection of drinks & apps.

Well normally the hip 20 avoid Walt Disney World Resort like the plague. They normally go to Universal Studios instead. They do however love to got to the Wald Disney Downtown Night life. If you are looking for other nightclubs then Club 23 is it. It is the place people go to be seen and to see all the celebrities.

Downtown Orlando. 100% Downtown.

Orlando over the last 5 years has really begun to come into it's own. A city that once really only had the Orlando Magic (NBA Team) now is home to an ECHL Hockey Team (Orlando Solar Bears) and a MLS team (Orlando City). We now sport a new performing arts space, Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.

All of these things have spawned a slew of new bars, restaurants and hangout spots. What was mostly a bunch of (in my opinion) dried up bars, boring restaurants and dated clubs has made way for craft-beer bars (tap and grind, Frank & Steins), awesomely themed drinking spots (Hanson's Shoe Repair, Sideshow) and delicious restaurants (The Rusty Spoon, Harry Buffalo).

The night life downtown is great for all ages of adults now. Catch a game, or a show and then head to Orange or Church street to grab a drink or some great food.

After the parks, fire up Uber and head our way!

There's always a huge crowd at City Walk at night, a lot of tourists, but it's always fun to bar hop there. If you're looking for more of a locals scene check at Happy Hour at Bar Louie, it's an indoor/outdoor bar with great specials. If you get tired of the crowd in orlando head out to Winter Park one night- they have an amazing downtown!
