Wondering what season is the best to explore Oregon?
Unless you're a skier and going specifically for the snow sports, I prefer the autumn months in Oregon. The weather is still warm enough in September/October to enjoy outdoor activities like hiking in and around the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area or enjoying boating along the Columbia or Willamette Rivers near Portland. There are incredible hiking/boating activities all over the state including gorgeous scenery along the Oregon coast and Crater Lake in the south of the state.
If you enjoy wine country, the fall is a great time for wine harvests and tastings.
Rain is always a possibility - that's what keeps Oregon green and beautiful, but the fall is normally less wet.
Enjoy your trip!
