From the CA border- would like a itinerary to see the beach, wine country, great small towns, Willamette Valley maybe and end up in Portland. Ideas? Never been to Oregon... looking for off the beaten track.

See the Oregon Caves National Monument & Preserve. Incredible. Also, if it still there, south of Coos Bay, there should be an incredible petting zoo - West Coast Game Park Safari. Lions, tigers and bears, oh my. If you are a rock hound, you can dig for the elusive moonstone somewhere in the western part of Oregon, if you have the time. Quite primitive camping. Bring water.
