What are the pros and cons of basing in Opatija Croatia for a week?

We're in the early stages of planning a three week Croatia vacation. Found an apartment we love in Opatija.

Thinking of flying into Venice and spending a couple days there. Then driving to Opatija and spending a week before driving on to Hvar and Dubrovnik.

Pula and Rovinj look interesting. A day trip to Lake Bled would be on our agenda.

Hvar and Dubrovnik are very far from Opatija.

Lake Bled or better Bled, could be easily visited as a day trip from Ljubljana.

Hi Dave,

Are you also flying out Venice or somewhere else? See if you can fly out of Dubrovnik it it's not too expensive.

Going to Opatija and then backtracking to Lake Bled to Pula and Rovinj will waste a lot of time. You might want to go to Bled from Venice, then to Ljubljana, and then to Portoroz. Piran and Izola are also beautiful. Then spend few days in Istria: Rovinj, Pula, and Motovun. Then you can drive to Opatija, visit Plitvice Lakes National Park if you have time, and then drive through Zadar and Split to Hvar and Dubrovnik.

It'll be an awesome trip!
