If you love Italian and aren't on a strict budget Del Posto is wonderful. It has one Michelin star, an award winning chef, and is probably my favorite restaurant overall. The decor is lovely and classy, the staff is very friendly and kind and not the least stuffy, and the food we had was delicious. For such a fancy place they were also very accommodating and kind to my 8 year old and her slightly picky food preferences. Close to Chelsea Market and the High Line Park

Also if you like cheesecake, sandwiches, and a much lower price tag Junior's restaurant is delicious. There is one location in Brooklyn and one in Times Square.

Lupa (170 Thompson St.) & Gato (324 Lafayette St.) are a couple of my latest faves.

The carbanara at Lupa is amazing every time....it's a must for me!

Gato has both great food and great cocktails - lots of good stuff to choose from. The scrambled eggs appetizer sounds unusual for dinner, but trust me, it's fantastic!

Panna II has amazing Indian food for a good price but, most importantly, a unique and unforgettable atmosphere. And it's BYOB.

When visiting NYC, you must cover the basics unique to the city: bagel, pizza and burger, these are just a few of my favorites:

Shake Shack - good god I miss this place! Nothing like cheesy fries and burgers and a thick chocolate shake at midnight. Yum!
