Looking for hip/trendy restaurants with fab food near specific locations

Hi! I'll be in New York in June and while I have my evening activities planned, I'm looking for two awesome dinner spots that are in the same general area as these activities, or no longer than a 10-minute cab ride away.

The vibe I'm looking for is upscale and trendy--since no one dresses up here in SF, I'm looking to bust out my stilettos. BUT, I am serious about food. Maybe there is a sweet spot--a hip restaurant that locals are talking about for the amazing fare? A girl can wish. ;-)

On Friday, I'm looking for something in the same neighborhood/general area as The McKittrick Hotel at 530 W 27th St.

On Saturday, something in the same area as The NoMad Hotel at Broadway & W 28th St (we will already be eating at the NoMad restaurant earlier in the weekend)

I'd really appreciate any suggestions!

Have you tried getting reservations at The Heath in the McKittrick? Great spot. As for Saturday you cannot go wrong with the Gramercy Tavern or Maialino in the Gramercy Park Hotel. Then hit the Rose Bar at Gramercy Park Hotel after.

  2. Gramercy Tavern (restaurant)
  3. Maialino (restaurant)

Where you're staying doesn't have the trendiest places, but in NYC you can wear your stilettos anywhere.. For more of a scene try looking into the Meatpacking District! CATCH restaurant, and Scarpetta. Spice Market, Bagatelle New York, and Beaumarchais are also very "sceney." Other "it" places with good food include Beauty & Essex on the Lower East Side, Charlie Bird in the West Village, and Narcissa in the East Village for some other choices (but make your reservations asap if you can!!!!!).

I was just at Birreria, a semi-secret rooftop garden in the Flatiron District. It's atop Mario Batali's Eataly, which makes it super swank but the Italian beer garden theme also makes it chill.

You might also like the restaurant at the Eventi - A Kimpton Hotel. It also has a lovely outdoor rooftop area.

When in NYC in June, one must dine al fresco!

Have fun!

Here is a link to a Google map I put together. Lots of bars and restaurants that I can vouch for.

Pull em up on your phone and it will take you right there.
