Looking for somewhere to go for cocktails pre dinner with a great view in NYC. Thanks in anticipation
So many to choose from. One of the best perks about NYC. Some good recommendations below, but my go-to list with some epic views:
Rare View for views of the Chrysler Building
The Ides for views of the East River and Manhattan
Living Room for views of One World Trade Center
Top of the Strand with views of the Empire State Building, and right in the thick near Times Square and with pretty sweet views of Manhattan.

My favorite view bar is the revolving bar at the New York Marriott Marquis, which has its own elevator. A spectacular constantly changing vista which can entertain me for hours. The tower bar at the top of Rockefeller Plaza just reopened on the 65th floor. New York Magazine has documented NYC view bars, as there are quite a few. Another lovely view bar is at a hotel on the east river just above the United Nations at 45th St and First Ave, I apologize as the name of this hotel escapes me at the moment. I am sure you will enjoy your time in NYC.

Another great spot is 230 FIFTH - open air but still with heating if it's a cold night.
Hi Elspeth! What immediately comes to mind for a great view is The Standard New York! The drinks are pricier, but you could go for the view! Other ones that have great views The Empire Rooftop Bar & Lounge and The James Hotel New York! :)
For NYC skyline views, I'd highly recommend The Ides! It's a little further out, but definitely worth it.
Have a fun trip!

Bemelmans Bar in the Carlyle Hotel is dreamy with mural painted walls and for a late night cocktail with a view, nothing beats the Boom Boom Room.

There is a bar at the top floor of the Time Warner Center, that has a fantastic view - I think it's Center Bar but go there and you'll see it. Also another good one is on the rooftop of the Gramercy Park Hotel
