Best ways of transportation in NYC?

Taking a little family getaway to new york in 2 weeks. We are staying at the Wyndham Garden hotel in New Jersey ( closest affordable hotel that fit our wants/needs) we want to see the sites of New York City but would rather not do to much driving as it will be are first time visiting. What are our options?

New York City (New York)

I'm guessing this is the Wyndham Garden Hotel in Newark.

You have two options:

Option #1: Head to Newark Penn Station, and either take the PATH train towards World Trade Center (Track 1) which is about $2.75 each way (the cheapest option). If you don't wish to go to WTC, switch over to the 33rd Street Train (via Journal Square) and it takes about 45 mins - and stops at Christopher Street, 9th, 14th, 23rd and 33rd Street.

Option #2: Take NJ Transit train (also on Track 1), $5 each way (the fastest option) - this will take you directly to New York Penn Station in about fifteen mins.

Once you get to New York City, the subway is your best way for transportation, as well as, your two legs. Hope this helps!

Katz Deli is great. Take the PATH Train to WTC, transfer at Journal Square to 33rd Street Train. Once on the 33rd Train get off at the "Christopher Street" stop. Either walk to Katz (30 min), cab/uber it, or take "F" train to "2 Ave" stop.

It seems you'll be staying close to Newark Liberty International Airport, I would recommend taking New Jersey Transit from Newark (or wherever the closest station is) and taking the train into the city. I do not recommend driving in NYC as a tourist-- parking is expensive, hard to find and a hassle. You will want to take the train while in the city and mostly sightsee by walking.

Subways are great, but depending on the time of day, you may not want to if you are traveling alone. It could be quite nerve wrecking! Take an Uber. You can request one within minutes and they are CHEAPER than a taxi. Use this code:phuongn205 to get a $20 free ride! Enjoy!
