From Toronto to New York City is only about an 8 hour drive so you could do it in one day.  Watkins Glen is about halfway.  It is at the south end of one of the Finger Lakes and there are a lot of parks there plus the Watkins Glen International raceway offers a ride around the course for fans.  You can drive your own car (55 mph limit) around the course for 2 laps.  Also near there is Sciencenter - a children's museum in Ithaca, Eldridge Park - an amusement park open in the summer in Elmira Heights and the The Corning Museum of Glass

Hi Amer,
We took a road trip from New York City to Toronto when the kids were 9 and 6 years old. It's not a long journey but stopping overnight was essential. We stopped in Niagara Falls (Canada) and did the usual touristy things there.
On our return trip, we stopped at Skaneateles , a charming village on the shore of Skaneateles Lake. I think it's one of the best places to rest, enjoy local wine and delicious food. For your stay, I suggest hotels in the village and close to the lake:
  • The Sherwood Inn
  • Packwood House

  1. New York City (city)
  2. Toronto (city)
  3. Niagara Falls (city)
  4. Skaneateles (attraction)
