I'm taking a weekend trip to New Orleans and plan on brunching all three days! Is there anything unique I should check out? Places that on top of having great food, has some New Orleans pizazz?
Hands down Surrey's Juice Bar! They have two locations -- one in the Lower Garden District and one in Uptown. It's really cute and totally unpretentious, and more like a hip diner than anything else. The two must-try very-New Orleans dishes there are the bananas foster french toast and the shrimp and grits. So good! Wash it down with some fresh squeezed juice because they're also a juice bar! I also took a weekend trip to New Orleans and ended up going there twice in a weekend because it was just that good.
If you're looking for something a little more fancy, Atchafalaya in the Irish Channel also has great Southern menu items and even a bloody mary bar during brunch. Dante's Kitchen in Uptown has some great brunch dishes and they whip up some tasty adult brunch beverages (also get their famous Bacon Praline Cinnamon Sticky Buns!). Another brunch favorite is Stanley ParkStanley's in the French Quarter. If you love eggs benedict, you'll love it here. They have an impressive eggs benedict selection and whip up a mean hollandaise sauce. Plus, they also have a great bananas foster french toast.
This last one is a little touristy, but Arnaud's Restaurant in the French Quarters has a famous Sunday jazz brunch that people flock to.
