Erica from Kansas City (Missouri) asked

Looking for a fantastic restaurant in the French Quarter for my birthday!

My husband and I will be visiting NOLA, and staying in the French Quarter. We are looking for a nice place to have my birthday dinner. We are good with jeans and tshirt, or dresses and jackets! Thanks!

Although it's not in the French Quarter, I would go to Commander's Palace Restaurant for a special birthday celebration.  It's dressy and a little bit expensive, but for me, it's the ultimate NOLA restaurant in terms of food, decor and service.  You can take the St. Charles Streetcar from Canal at Carondelet streets on the edge of the French Quarter to St. Charles and Washington.  It takes about 17 minutes and you get to see some off the Mansions along St. Charles Avenue from an historic streetcar for $1.25.  Then walk two blocks to the restaurant, and take a peek at the Lafayette Cemetery No. 1 on the way.   You can return on the streetcar or take a cab back to the French Quarter.

Galatoire's (classic New Orleans), Restaurant R'evolution (expensive but excellent), NOLA Restaurant, Peche (fresh seafood), Domenica (casual pizza)---you can't go wrong with any of these! Here is a fun list of some of the best and most unique foods the city has to offer.
