Several people have recommended a swamp tour in New Orleans. Do you agree? Is there one that's better than another?
I have taken my family on the Jean Lafitte Swamp Tour Jean Lafitte Swamp Tour. We had about 20 family members so we took up half the boat. Great tour doesn't take too long reasonably priced. We had a nice time, the guides were knowledgable and provided a great show. We saw lots of gators and later on my kids got to hold a gator which was really cool. My daughters went nuts trying to hold the gator. The cool thing about the tour is you are near Jean Lafitte National Park. The park has some great boardwalk trails you can walk and are worth the day trip. I wouldn't go as part of a package I would plan to drive yourself there and doe both.
I DO recommend a swamp tour. This is a unique eco-system, and the guides really know how to show it off. We went on a Honey Island Swamp Tour Honey Island Swamp, and it was really professional and fun.
I also vote for the Honey Island Swamp It's been many years since we went and back then we were fortunate enough to have Dr. Wagner as our guide. He was passionate about this ecosystem. And they pick you up at your hotel.
I second the suggestion for the Jean Lafitte Swamp Tour . We really enjoyed the swamp tour and were glad we included it in our itinerary. We spent a week in New Orleans. We booked the tour with Gray Line New Orleans , which has a meeting point near Café du Monde . If you want to read more about the tour and see some pictures, I wrote an article about it.
