Nashville, Memphis

Nashville and Memphis in August. Where to eat? What to see and do?

Driving from Chicago to Nashville and Memphis. Open budget, love to eat, and would love to know what I need to see and do.

Memphis is an amazing place for food! I would definitely check out Charlie Vergos Rendezvous for both ribs and atmosphere. It's a crazy, boisterous, fun place to have dinner and the food couldn't be better. Relatively cheap, too!

Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken is an incredible place for, well, fried chicken. Be prepared to wait a while, though--our party waited for about an hour before being seated.

My favorite thing about Memphis are the famous Peabody Ducks at the Peabody Hotel. Long story short, every afternoon they parade little ducks across the lobby of the hotel and there's a big ceremony for it. It's hilarious and incredibly charming--don't miss it. There's a great lobby bar, too so you can have a drink while you wait.

NASHVILLE: Try "Flyte World Dining & Wine" Restaurant.  Also, try Prime 108.  Here's possible discounts through my friend, Barbara.
