Visiting with two teen boys

My wife and I are coming to town in late March with two young teenage boys (12 and 14). What should we see in Nashville?

Hi Eric,

What are your boys into - sports? history? music?  There's a little something for everyone here.  March isn't our prettiest month for outdoor activities like hiking, but there's still plenty to do.  If they're interested in history, a visit to The Hermitage Farm, home of Andrew Jackson would be fun.  We're also surrounded by civil war battlefields and the Nashville City Cemetery is cool (  Of course, there's also The Parthenon and the Tennessee State Museum. If history isn't their thing, check and see if the Predators are playing at home and take in a hockey game - even if you're not a hockey fan, the games have so much going on that it's still fun.  Don't forget Climb Nashville, an awesome indoor climbing gym.  Your boys may be a little young for Rocketown, but if they're into skateboarding and/or music they'd probably love it. Music City Indoor Karting and Sky High Sports are also loads of fun. Check 'em out! Hope your boys have a fun visit!

You can eat at the Loveless Cafe, great southern food and the best biscuits. Grab some BBQ at Peg Leg Porker BBQ, they have an excellent smoked half chicken. Grab some of the red bikes that you can rent within the city and explore. Predators tickets usually aren't very expensive, and  you could see the neon signs on Broadway, it gets a little wild later in the night though. The gardens inside of Gaylord Opryland Resort are very beautiful, if you go, park at the mall and walk to avoid big parking fees.

Tourist Traps to avoid: Pancake Pantry- Really long lines for very mediocre pancakes.

All of the other suggestions are great! I have a 15 year old and he has enjoyed most all of the ideas below. Another activity that is one of his favorites is Segway of Nashville. You ride segways through downtown Nashville and to Bicentennial Mall State Park where you get a great history lesson along the way.  Spend time downtown too while you're there. Have fun!!

If your boys have an interest in open area places to enjoy freely, in natural surroundings then you should visit Centennial Park. You also see the small artificial lake. I would like to suggest you to take them to the Adventure Science Center to be updated with new and things. I hope they will like to visit this center.

Stay at Gaylord Opryland Resort (an experience complete with indoor man-made river and boat ride) and have them book tickets at the Opry for you. They will be great seats. Whether or not you are a fan of any kind of country, it is so much fun to experience & you might see some famous singers -even some American Idol top 10 (for the teenagers). Walking down Music Row & visiting Musicians Hall of Fame Museum is cool. They also have a riverboat cruise & dinner show.  The Parthenon(a replica) is interesting.

Hey Eric! A visit to Music Row is an absolute must. Its fun and entertaining because there is live music all down the streets and there are some really great restaurants there! Look into Team Green Adventures. They set up a lot of fun outdoor activities to do like, hiking, kayaking, etc...
