The last time we visited Opry Mills, near Opryland USA, we stayed in Mount Juliet. It is about 30 minutes from Nashville and was a great place to stay if you didn't want to be in the heart of Nashville. The prices on hotels were very reasonable and of great quality.
Bavarian Bierhaus is a super fun place to eat. Cascades American Cafe Restaurant would also be very Fun. Old Hickory Steakhouse would be worthwhile, RSVP. I like to look for local BBQ, Pizza, ice cream and candy. I would take a dinner trip on the General Jackson Showboat. I always go on boats. Cotton & Snow ice cream shop would be good around 7pm after dinner. Sometimes I eat appetizers at one place, salad another, entree somewhere else and dessert another place. You will be surrounded by many fun places. If you have a hotel credit card, then stay at their chain. Sign up for and rewards program. I stay at La Quinta Inn & Suites Nashville Airport in Nashville. Hotwire works well when we travel. I have my son make the reservation that night depending on the area I am in. Works great. He pays, I stay. Best wishes. I am not crazy about all the traffic there.
