Road trip from Asheville, NC to Nashville TN

Doing a mini road trip from Asheville, NC to Nashville, TN this fall. First time visitor to both cities, and looking for recommendations on possible driving routes and interesting sites and tasty food along the way.

I have always wanted to visit the Biltmore Estate in Ashville (and have never been able to do so).  From there I recommend going to the Blue Ridge Parkway Visitor Center and following the Blue Ridge Parkway until it crosses US 276 to Waynesville
Then cut across to Cherokee (North Carolina) and go through the Great Smoky Mountain National Park to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge  Before you get to Nashville be sure to visit The Hermitage-Home of President Andrew Jackson

Five hours is about right, although the traffic with construction can make it more like seven. I was stuck on the NC border for over an hour the last time I made that trip back in April.
