Holiday activities in Nashville for a first timer?

If you are looking at Holiday activities I would suggest going to Opryland Hotel they have Christmas lights, an ICE Rink, the music city rockettes and ICE by Opryland which is an Ice Sculpture exhibit. For new years you can always hit lower Broadway there are plenty of bars and Honky Tonks as well as a Guitar drop. if Country is not your thing check out Marathon Music Works they are having a concert by St Paul and The broken Bones.

I was just in Nashville recently!  When I was doing research for my trip, I came across the "M Street" bash, which will get you into four really good restaurants/bars: WHISKEY KITCHEN, The Rosewall, Virago and Saint Añejo. Here's the link to check them out.

They are having a big New Year's Bash on Broadway this year.  I know Lady A is performing.  Check out the Rockettes.
