Grand ol opry

I’m confused on where the grand ol opry is. Is it near Nashville Tennessee? I would like to visit and stay downtown Nashville. Is this possible and suggestion on where to stay and recommendations on what to see? Thanks

After using several smaller venues from the time it first started (1925) in 1943 the Grand Old Opry made its permanent home in Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. The auditorium is used from November to January but, since 1974  shows/broadcasts  (now February to October) have come from the Grand Ole Opry at 2804 Opryland Drive. Here's the website:
It has all the info you need about both venues...and even has a page about other things to do in Nashville:

We stayed in the Vanderbuilt section, it is beautiful and local. Public transportation is great, we took it to the Grand ol opry. We stayed at embassy suites vanderbuilt, free breakfast and free happy hour.
