If you could only pick 2 vineyards to visit anywhere in the area where would you go?
I would pick Stag's Leap Winery and Robert Sinskey Vineyards. The wine at Stag's Leap is amazing, and I love Sinskey because they have their own gardens and pair the wine with food.

I'd definitely try and visit Nickel & Nickel and Quintessa.
Both are beautiful properties and won't disappoint!
Enjoy! :)
I enjoyedChateau Montelena. They're famous for winning the Judgement of Paris in 1976, along with Stag's Leap Wine Cellars. Tastings are expensive, starting at $25 per person, and I'm not even sure if they do tours of the property. However, two things made this my favorite winery - our pourer was a UC Davis student, and was very engaging and happy to answer questions and discuss specific things about the vineyard and the growing process. Second, the wine itself was good - in particular, the Cabernet, which would age beautifully.
However, this is a great list of winery tours, that makes me want to go back tomorrow!

This is really tough to answer. But if i had only two to go to i would say Schramsberg Vineyards because its a sparkling wine house that does small tours with excellent wine. great tour and overall wonderful experience.
next would be just outside of napa on the russian river road - VML winery love their pinot noir. Check out Its sister winery is Truett Hurst both of these sell only direct to consumers. No middle man.
And just to throw a hitch into your plan, on your way back to San Francisco, stop at Lagunitas Brewing Company. I dont drink beer, but loved this stop!
