We're celebrating my husband's birthday with family and friends in Munich next September or October. We'd love to stay in a cool, modern hotel ($$ - $$$) that has a nice restaurant for the birthday celebration.
Since this may happen during Oktoberfest, we'd like to experience a beer garden without the tourists or craziness - is there such a place?
The Hotel Opera is a quirky little gem of a hotel and while the hotel itself isn't that modern, it does have a cute little modern-looking bar as well as a restaurant that's pretty good. If that doesn't work for you, try the Hotel München Palace which is absolutely lovely and almost feels like a small camp or the marc münchen which is very modern.
