Cross Country Road Trip

Question

Hello! Could you review our trip cross country? We plan to leave LA on June 9 and drive cross country (myself, husband, 8yo son, 2 dogs and tortoise) in an RV. We have never done this before. We want it to be an adventure and a learning opportunity for our son. We only have 6 days to make this trip. We rented an RV and it is due back. This is a one way trip, we are moving to VA. Relocated from CA to GA in 2014 with 2 large dogs in my SUV staying at motels along way. Drove Hwy 1 & 101 S in CA then got on I 10 & I20 rest of way to GA. Was apprehensive as first long trip for dogs but they did fine. Just stopped every 2 hours for them - potty breaks. Also did have inconvenience in Texas first see big sign no public rest rooms for many miles.... then as approached Border facility they made us all pull off hwy an wait in long line....finally they started having big trucks line up separately and passenger cars /SUVs allowed to get back on hwy. Still no rest rooms tho for many many miles. As you'll have your RV will be better for you. Planning trip back to CA but going on I40 this time.
