Nice hotels in Montreal?

My wife and I have decided to add Montreal to our Canada trip.  Are there any nice unique hotels that we should look into?  We want to stay some place nice, but it doesn't have to be extravagant.

Here are some of my favorite Montreal hotels:

  • Hotel St Paul boasts simple and comfortable rooms. The perfect place to return to after a busy day of exploring Montreal.
  • Hotel Le St. James has a European atmosphere you don't find much in North America. The staff are professional and the rooms are impeccable.
  • Hotel Gault minimalist design really makes it stand out among the old-world architecture of the neighborhood.
  • The elegant Esthétique La Quintessence Inc sits next to Lake Tremblant. Each room has a wood-burning fireplace and balcony. It's especially beautiful with snowfall.

  1. Hotel St Paul (hotel)
  2. Hotel Le St. James (hotel)
  3. Hotel Gault (hotel)
  4. Esthétique La Quintessence Inc (attraction)

If you find yourself in Quebec City, check out the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac. Old-world luxury that makes the word "grand" seem not quite grand enough. Located in Old Quebec this hotel is also quite modern in thoughtful touches, including a great selection of e-postcards. Worth a splurge.
